Leadership

I have successfully finished the leadership course at Chaminade College School. Taking this course enabled me to be more involved in my community. For instance, I worked with the Toronto Police Division 12 to promote bike safety to younger kids. I also worked along with MEtoWE representatives to create a workshop learning about world issues while collaborating with other students to help figure out how to solve these issues. I have also volunteered for Jake's House which is a fundraiser for Autistic people, I would help with their Christmas event where they give gifts to Autistic kids. Furthermore, I helped plan and set up a fundraiser, karaoke night, for Free The Children which is an organization that helps build school in third world countries. In this particular karaoke night, we raised $1,000 which gets us closer to building a school in Ghana.
Volunteering for science/STEM

My passion for science extends beyond the classrooms. As a student who finished the STEM program, I have been given many opportunities to volunteer in events involving sciences. Every year I have volunteered in the open house that takes place at Chaminade College School. The open house is for Grade 8 students and their parents to see what Chaminade offers. During the open house I demonstrate my knowledge of the school, the STEM program and as well as how to dissect a frog or a fetal pig. I have also volunteered for the week long overnight trip to Algonquin Park as a leader. My job as a leader is to help Grade 10 students do various scientific labs such as calculating the quality of soils through different tests.
